How much do custom cabinets cost in Colorado?

Denver-area cost guides put custom cabinets at about $500 to $1,200 per linear foot installed and semi-custom at $200 to $550 (HomeGuide, checked October 2026). A 10x10 kitchen has roughly 20 linear feet of cabinets, so expect about $10,000 to $24,000 for custom and $4,000 to $11,000 for semi-custom.

What do published sources say custom cabinets cost in Colorado?

Colorado sources cluster around $500 to $1,200 per linear foot for custom cabinets, installed, and roughly $12,000 to $25,000 for a whole custom kitchen. National guides land in the same range.

We opened every source below on October 18, 2026. The table notes where a source is older or measures differently.

*Two cautions. HomeBlue’s figures cover every cabinet type, and HomeBlue tells readers to count cabinets above and below the countertop as separate linear feet, so the same kitchen has more feet and a lower price per foot. Its pages are also dated June 2024 even though their titles say 2026, and VL Builders’ article was written for 2025. Treat the older figures as a rough reference.

How much do custom cabinets cost per linear foot compared with semi-custom and stock?

Custom cabinets cost about $500 to $1,200 per linear foot installed, semi-custom about $150 to $700 and stock about $100 to $400, according to HomeGuide’s national 2026 figures (checked October 2026). HomeGuide’s Denver page narrows semi-custom to $200 to $550.

HomeGuide splits the custom figure into about $300 to $900 per linear foot for materials and $200 to $300 for installation labor, with a national average of $850 per foot. HomeAdvisor’s custom cabinet guide (checked October 2026) gives the same three per-foot ranges and says custom cabinets cost two to five times as much as stock or semi-custom. For what you actually get at each tier, see custom vs. semi-custom vs. stock cabinets.

What counts as a linear foot?

A linear foot is measured along the wall where the cabinets run. In the national guides a 10x10 kitchen comes to 20 to 22 linear feet (HomeGuide) or 20 to 25 (HomeAdvisor, both checked October 2026), which is about the length of the two walls. So a foot of run there covers the base and wall cabinets on that stretch.

HomeBlue counts uppers and lowers separately, which is why its per-foot prices look low. Depending on the shop, openings for the range, refrigerator and dishwasher may come out of the count, while tall pantry cabinets and appliance panels add to it. When you compare quotes, ask each shop how it measured.

What does a typical kitchen cost with custom cabinets?

Multiply the linear feet of cabinets by the per-foot range. Using the Denver-area figures above, a 10x10 kitchen comes to roughly $10,000 to $24,000 for custom cabinets, and an L-shape with an island to roughly $17,000 to $41,000. These are our estimates from published ranges, not quotes.

Estimates: linear feet × Denver-area ranges from HomeGuide (checked October 2026)
KitchenCabinet runCustom at $500–$1,200/ftSemi-custom at $200–$550/ft
10x10 L-shape (two 10-foot walls)About 20 linear feet$10,000–$24,000$4,000–$11,000
Larger L-shape (12- and 14-foot walls)About 26 linear feet$13,000–$31,200$5,200–$14,300
Larger L-shape plus an 8-foot islandAbout 34 linear feet$17,000–$40,800$6,800–$18,700

The math: 20 feet × $500 = $10,000 and 20 feet × $1,200 = $24,000, and the same for each row. We priced the island at the full per-foot rate; it has no wall cabinets, but finished backs and end panels add cost back.

Published whole-kitchen figures line up. HomeGuide’s own 10x10 range for custom cabinets is $10,000 to $26,500. Angi (updated October 16, 2026) lists $12,000 to $18,000 for a 20- to 30-linear-foot galley and $20,000 to $30,000 for a full kitchen of 35 linear feet or more; at 35 feet, that is about $570 to $860 per foot. VL Builders says Colorado custom kitchens run $15,000 to $25,000 or more, with Denver-metro custom projects starting around $18,000 (all checked October 2026).

None of these numbers include countertops, the sink, appliances, backsplash tile, or plumbing and electrical work. HomeGuide lists removal of old cabinets at $300 to $600 when it is not already in the installer’s price. For what a custom kitchen includes, see custom kitchen cabinets.

What drives the cost of custom cabinets?

Linear feet set the size of the job; box material, door style, finish, wood species, organizers, installation and layout changes set where you land in the range. Labor is a big share: HomeGuide puts it at 25% to 40% of a custom cabinet project (checked October 2026).

Box material

Cabinet boxes are usually plywood, MDF or particleboard. HomeGuide notes that plywood cabinets with solid-wood doors cost more than laminate or MDF cabinets. Plywood holds screws well and weighs less than MDF, which matters for wall cabinets and drawers. Our proposed standard is 3/4" plywood cabinet boxes.

Door style

The door profile matters less than most people expect. HomeGuide’s per-door material prices run $60 to $70 for slab, $60 to $80 for Shaker, $70 to $90 for raised-panel or mitered doors, and $90 to $200 for glass-insert doors. Construction details cost more: HomeGuide says inset cabinets can cost up to twice as much as framed cabinets. More on that in frameless vs. face-frame cabinets.

Finish

Every finish adds steps: sanding, sealing, color coats and curing time. A painted kitchen with a stained island means two finishing processes instead of one. None of the guides we checked publishes a reliable per-finish surcharge, so ask for finish as its own line item.

Wood species

HomeAdvisor lists maple and birch at $300 to $400 per linear foot, white oak at $400 to $600 and cherry at $500 to $700 (checked October 2026). Walnut is not in that table; if you want it, price it early.

Organizers and add-ons

Each pull-out is priced on its own. HomeGuide lists pull-out trash and recycling at $200 to $450 or more, pull-out spice racks at $200 to $500 or more, lazy Susans at $200 to $600 or more, blind-corner pull-outs at $300 to $1,000, and tray dividers or pegged drawer organizers at $100 to $300.

Ceiling height and layout

Taller runs use more material: HomeGuide says ceiling-height cabinets raise cost by 10% or more. Angled walls and non-standard layouts add design and fitting time. Moving the sink, range or a wall brings in other trades; permits depend on the scope, plumbing or electrical changes usually need one, and your contractor handles it.

Installation

Installation is often priced per foot. VL Builders puts installation in Colorado at $50 to $250 per linear foot, depending on complexity. Hourly cabinet-maker rates in the Denver area run $50 to $150 (HomeGuide) or roughly $90 to $110 (Uncover Denver), both checked October 2026.

How much do custom vanities, mudroom cabinets and pantries cost?

Smaller rooms cost less in total, though often more per foot. HomeGuide’s 2026 national figures put a custom vanity at $500 to $3,000 installed, custom laundry room cabinets at $1,000 to $4,500 and custom pantry cabinets at $1,000 to $5,000 (checked October 2026).

Angi is higher for small jobs: $5,000 to $10,000 for a compact bath or laundry project of 10 to 15 linear feet. None of the sources we checked gives a mudroom figure; HomeGuide’s range for custom built-in shelving, $2,000 to $7,500, is the closest comparison for a bench-and-cubby wall.

If you are already doing the kitchen, building these rooms in the same door style and finish keeps the house consistent. See bathroom vanities, laundry and mudroom cabinets and pantries and built-ins.

Does CNC production make custom cabinets cheaper?

CNC production makes custom cabinets more efficient to build, but it does not change what plywood, finish or hardware cost. We have not found a reliable published figure for how much CNC saves, so we do not quote one.

On a CNC router, each part is cut and drilled straight from the design file. Shelf-pin holes, hinge positions and drawer-slide holes land in the same place every time, which reduces hand layout and rework. Parts are nested on full sheets, so material is used efficiently. And because every size comes from the drawing, a cabinet sized to 31 1/4 inches takes no more cutting time than a standard 30-inch box.

That efficiency shows up mainly in shop labor. Finishing, assembly and installation still take skilled hands. See our process for how a job moves from measurements to install.

How can you lower the cost of custom cabinets?

Keep the layout, choose a standard door style, limit the number of finishes, and spend on organizers only where you will use them every day.

  • Keep the layout. Leaving the sink, range and refrigerator in place avoids plumbing, gas and electrical moves and keeps other trades off the job.
  • Pick a standard door. Slab and Shaker doors sit at the low end of HomeGuide’s per-door prices; inset and glass doors cost more.
  • Use one or two finishes. One paint color with one wood accent keeps finishing to two processes.
  • Choose the species with cost in mind. In HomeAdvisor’s table, maple and birch come in below white oak and cherry.
  • Stop at standard heights. Ceiling-height uppers add 10% or more, per HomeGuide.
  • Choose organizers deliberately. Pick the two or three you will use daily instead of fitting every cabinet.
  • Compare quotes on the same basis. Same linear-foot method, same door and finish, and the same inclusions: delivery, installation, hardware and removal.

If your room is mostly standard sizes and you need few changes, semi-custom may be enough. Our custom vs. semi-custom vs. stock guide explains where the line falls.

Frequently asked questions

How much do custom cabinets cost per linear foot in Colorado?

Denver-area guides list custom cabinets at about $500 to $1,200 per linear foot installed (HomeGuide’s Denver page, checked October 2026). Uncover Denver’s table runs from $500 to $1,500 or more. Semi-custom cabinets are listed at $200 to $550 per linear foot in the Denver area.

How much do custom cabinets cost for a 10x10 kitchen?

A 10x10 kitchen has about 20 linear feet of cabinets. At $500 to $1,200 per foot, that works out to roughly $10,000 to $24,000 installed. HomeGuide’s national table puts a 10x10 kitchen with custom cabinets at $10,000 to $26,500 (checked October 2026). Countertops and appliances are extra.

Do custom cabinet prices include installation?

Most per-linear-foot figures in published cost guides are installed prices. HomeGuide splits custom cabinets into about $300 to $900 per linear foot for materials and $200 to $300 for installation labor. Ask every quote whether delivery, installation, hardware and removal of old cabinets are included.

What is not included in the price of kitchen cabinets?

Countertops, the sink and faucet, appliances, backsplash tile, plumbing and electrical work, drywall repair and paint are usually priced separately. HomeGuide lists removal of old cabinets at $300 to $600 when it is not already part of the installer’s price.

Why do cabinet cost guides give such different numbers?

They measure differently and mix different products. Some guides price a foot of wall run with base and wall cabinets together; HomeBlue counts cabinets above and below the counter separately, which lowers its price per foot. Some figures cover all cabinet types, some only custom, and some pages are older than their titles suggest.

How much does a custom bathroom vanity cost?

HomeGuide’s 2026 national figures put a custom vanity at $500 to $3,000 installed, depending on size, material and the number of sinks (checked October 2026). The countertop, sink, faucet and any plumbing changes add to that.

How do I get a price from Woodridge Cabinets?
